Effective date: 10/19/2026. Last updated: 10/19/2026.
1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and GETMYINTERNS LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("GMI," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of the GetMyInterns.org platform, including getmyinterns.org, every Instance hosted on a getmyinterns.org subdomain or custom domain, and the student, internship provider, and administration portals (together, the "Platform").
GMI is a technology platform that connects students, internship providers, and the schools, districts, and organizations that run internship programs.
By creating an account, signing in (including through single sign-on), or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Platform on behalf of an organization, you accept these Terms for that organization and confirm you have authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Definitions
- "Account Owner" means the school, school district, nonprofit, government agency, business, or other organization that contracts with GMI to operate an Instance.
- "Instance" means the portion of the Platform operated for a particular Account Owner, usually at its own web address (for example, miami.getmyinterns.org). All Instances run on shared GMI infrastructure, including the same servers and database. Each Instance's data is kept logically separate through access controls, so Users of one Instance cannot see another Instance's data, and GMI does not share data between Instances.
- "Account Administrator" means an individual authorized by an Account Owner to manage its Instance, including its users, settings, and public pages.
- "Internship Provider" means a business, nonprofit, agency, or individual that posts internship opportunities or engages with Students through the Platform, including the individuals acting on its behalf.
- "Student" means an individual who uses the Platform to seek or take part in internship opportunities.
- "User" or "you" means anyone who accesses the Platform, including Account Administrators, Internship Providers, Students, and parents or guardians acting for a Student.
- "Student Data" means any information that identifies or relates to a Student, whether entered by the Student, the Account Owner, or an Internship Provider, or received from a third-party service such as Clever or another single sign-on provider. It may include contact information, student ID, school and grade level, grades, transcripts and GPA, resumes, documents, photos, demographic and eligibility information, parent or guardian information, and, if the Account Owner turns on that optional field, the last four digits of a Social Security number.
- "Content" means any text, files, images, listings, web page content, or other material submitted to the Platform by a User or Account Owner, including Student Data.
- "Customer Agreement" means a signed contract, order form, or invoice between GMI and an Account Owner.
3. How These Terms Relate to Other Agreements
A signed Customer Agreement controls over these Terms wherever the two conflict.
- Signed contracts. If an Account Owner has a signed contract or order form with GMI, that agreement controls for that Account Owner, its Instance, and the Users of that Instance to the extent it conflicts with these Terms.
- Invoice-only customers. If an Account Owner is set up by invoice without a signed contract, these Terms govern, and the invoice controls only for pricing, quantities, and payment terms.
- Stricter data limits win. Where a Customer Agreement places stricter limits on how GMI may use, share, or retain data than these Terms do, those stricter limits apply to that Instance.
- Program rules. An Account Owner may have its own rules for its internship program, such as eligibility requirements or a code of conduct. Users of that Instance must follow them as well. GMI is not responsible for enforcing an Account Owner's program rules.
4. Eligibility, Minors, and Parental Consent
Students must be at least 13 years old, and Students under 18 may use the Platform only with a parent's or guardian's consent obtained by the Account Owner.
- Minimum age. The Platform is not directed to children under 13, and no one under 13 may use it. If GMI learns it has collected information from a child under 13, it will delete that information and notify the Account Owner.
- Higher limits. An Account Owner may set a higher minimum age or other eligibility requirements for its Instance.
- Minors. A Student under 18 (or under the age of majority where they live) may use the Platform only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
- Who obtains consent. The Account Owner is responsible for obtaining and keeping records of parental consent, and for giving any notices or obtaining any consents required by law, before a minor uses its Instance or the minor's Student Data is entered into the Platform. GMI relies on the Account Owner to do this and does not independently verify consent.
- Parents and guardians. A parent or guardian who consents agrees to these Terms on the Student's behalf and is responsible for the Student's use of the Platform. Questions about a Student's account or data should go first to the Account Owner (the school or program), and GMI will help the Account Owner respond.
- Adult roles. Account Administrators and individuals acting for Internship Providers must be at least 18 years old.
5. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and your login secure.
- Provide accurate, current information and update it when it changes.
- Keep your password and login credentials confidential. Do not share your account or let anyone else use it. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- Tell us right away at support@getmyinterns.org if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- Account Administrators can create, manage, suspend, and delete accounts in their Instance and can view Student Data within it.
- If you sign in through a single sign-on provider such as Clever, your access depends on that provider. If your access through that provider ends, you may lose access to the Platform.
- GMI may require additional security measures, such as multi-factor authentication, for some or all accounts.
6. Account Owners and Account Administrators
Each Account Owner is responsible for its Instance, its internship program, and the Users it brings onto the Platform. Actions taken by its Account Administrators are treated as actions of the Account Owner. Each Account Owner agrees to:
- Manage access. Authorize only appropriate personnel as Account Administrators and remove their access promptly when it is no longer needed.
- Vet Internship Providers. Review and approve each Internship Provider before it can view Student Data or contact Students, including any background checks or other screening required by law or the Account Owner's policies. GMI does not screen or approve Internship Providers.
- Obtain consents and give notices. Obtain parental consent for minors as described in Section 4, and give Students and parents any notices required by law, such as annual notices under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that describe service providers like GMI.
- Share data lawfully. Have the legal right to provide Student Data to GMI and to Internship Providers, and enter or import only the Student Data needed for its program. The Account Owner decides which optional fields its Instance collects, such as the last four digits of a Social Security number, and whether they are required.
- Run the program. Remain responsible for placements, supervision, safety, academic credit, and any agreements with Internship Providers.
- Own its public pages. Remain responsible for content it publishes on its Instance's public pages, including any HTML it enters. That content must not contain malicious code and must not infringe anyone's rights. The Account Owner understands that its Instance's web address and public pages are publicly visible by design, so Students and Internship Providers can find the program and sign up.
- Follow the law. Comply with the laws that apply to it, including FERPA, Florida's Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (Section 1006.1494, Florida Statutes) where applicable, child labor laws, nondiscrimination laws, and records retention requirements.
- Handle data requests. Respond to requests from Students and parents to access, correct, or delete Student Data, with GMI's help as described in Section 10.
7. Internship Providers
Internship Providers may use the Platform only after an Account Owner approves them, and they are fully responsible for the internships they offer. Each Internship Provider agrees to:
- Be accurate. Provide truthful information about its organization and post only real, lawful opportunities that accurately describe duties, schedule, location, requirements, and whether the internship is paid or unpaid.
- Follow the law. Comply with all laws that apply to its internships, including federal and Florida child labor laws (such as limits on hours and hazardous work for minors), wage and hour laws including the rules for unpaid internships, anti-discrimination and anti-harassment laws, workplace safety laws, and any background check requirements for adults who supervise minors.
- Keep Students safe. Provide a safe, supervised, and age-appropriate environment and follow the Account Owner's program rules.
- Protect Student Data. Use Student Data only to evaluate, communicate about, and manage internships within the Account Owner's program. Never sell or share it, use it for marketing, or use it for recruiting outside the program. Delete it when it is no longer needed for the program or when the Account Owner asks.
- Communicate professionally. Keep all communication with Students professional and related to the internship. When working with minors, follow the Account Owner's rules about communication. Never seek personal relationships with Students, request inappropriate content, or move conversations to private channels in violation of program rules.
- Report concerns. Report safety concerns or misconduct involving a Student to the Account Owner, and to the authorities when the law requires it, including any known or suspected child abuse.
- Cover its own obligations. Remain solely responsible for its hiring and supervision decisions, any pay or stipends, insurance, and workers' compensation.
- Never charge Students. Not charge Students or their families any fee to apply for or take part in an internship found through the Platform.
8. Students
Students use the Platform to find and apply for internships through their school or program. As a Student, you agree to:
- Give accurate information about yourself, your experience, and your qualifications.
- Use the Platform only for your school's or program's internship activities, and follow its rules and the workplace rules of any Internship Provider you work with.
- Treat other Users with respect and never harass, threaten, or bully anyone.
- Keep your login private.
Your school or program (the Account Owner) can see the information you share through the Platform. Internship Providers it approves see only what they need to consider you for and manage an internship, as described in Section 10. Using the Platform does not guarantee you an internship.
If anything during an internship or on the Platform makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, tell your school or program contact right away. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
9. GMI's Role
GMI provides software only. It is not an employer, staffing agency, employment agency, school, or party to any internship.
- GMI does not screen, background check, endorse, or supervise Internship Providers or Students, and it does not verify listings or the information Users provide.
- GMI does not guarantee that any Student will be placed, or any outcome, academic credit, or pay.
- Every internship is an arrangement among the Student, the Internship Provider, and the Account Owner. They are responsible for pay, schedules, supervision, safety, insurance, workers' compensation, academic credit, and legal compliance.
- GMI may review Content or act on reports of misconduct, but it is not required to.
- The Platform is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911.
10. Student Data and Privacy
GMI uses Student Data only to provide the Platform for the Account Owner, and never sells it. Our Privacy Policy describes our practices in more detail.
- GMI's role. GMI processes Student Data on behalf of the Account Owner and under its direction. For school and district Account Owners, GMI acts as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA and is under the Account Owner's direct control with respect to the use and maintenance of education records.
- Permitted uses. GMI uses Student Data only to provide, maintain, secure, support, and improve the Platform for the Account Owner, as the Account Owner directs, or as required by law.
- What GMI never does. GMI does not sell or rent Student Data, use it for targeted advertising, or build profiles of Students for any purpose other than the Account Owner's program. These commitments are consistent with Section 1006.1494, Florida Statutes, for K–12 Students.
- Service providers. GMI uses service providers, such as cloud hosting and email delivery providers, to run the Platform. They may access Student Data only to provide services to GMI and are bound by appropriate confidentiality and security obligations. The Privacy Policy lists the categories of service providers GMI uses.
- Analytics. GMI may use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand how the Platform is used. GMI configures these tools with advertising features turned off and never uses them for targeted advertising. An Account Owner that adds its own analytics tracking to its Instance is responsible for configuring it lawfully and for the data it collects.
- Security. GMI maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of Student Data, including encryption in transit and access controls. Account Administrators and Internship Providers can see information only about the Students they have been given access to within their Instance, and the Account Owner controls who has that access.
- What Internship Providers see. Internship Providers see only the Student information needed to hire and manage interns, and it becomes visible in stages. For Students who apply to their internships, they see name, school, area of study, grade level, city, ZIP code, interview availability, the internship applied to, and résumé. Email and phone number are added once an interview is scheduled. Home address, student number, timesheets, and evaluations are added once the Student is hired. Internship Providers never see a Student's grades, transcripts, demographic or eligibility information, Social Security digits, or parent or guardian information.
- Breach notification. If GMI discovers unauthorized access to Student Data, it will notify the affected Account Owner within 72 hours after GMI becomes aware of the incident, not from the date the incident occurred. GMI will also provide the information it has about the incident and cooperate with the Account Owner in investigating it and notifying affected individuals as the law requires.
- Access, correction, and deletion. The Account Owner controls Student Data in its Instance. If a Student or parent contacts GMI directly, GMI will refer them to the Account Owner and help the Account Owner respond. GMI will delete Student Data within 30 days of an Account Owner's request by email to support@getmyinterns.org, unless the law requires GMI to keep it.
- Legal requests. If GMI receives a subpoena or other legal demand for Student Data, it will notify the Account Owner before responding, unless the law prohibits notice.
11. Ownership and Licenses
You keep ownership of your Content, and GMI keeps ownership of the Platform.
- Your Content. You and the Account Owner retain all rights in Content you submit. The Account Owner controls the Student Data in its Instance.
- License to GMI. You give GMI a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, display, and transmit your Content only as needed to operate and provide the Platform and as these Terms allow. For content an Account Owner publishes on its Instance's public pages, this includes displaying it publicly. The license ends when the Content is deleted under Section 17.
- The Platform. GMI and its licensors own the Platform, including its software, design, templates, and trademarks. GMI gives you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Platform under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or create derivative works of the Platform.
- De-identified data. GMI may create data that has been de-identified and aggregated so that it cannot reasonably identify any individual, Student, or Account Owner. GMI may use it only to operate, secure, and improve the Platform and for internal analytics, and will not try to re-identify it. Apart from each Instance's web address and public pages, which are public by design, GMI will not publicly name an Account Owner as a customer or publish statistics specific to its Instance without its written permission. A Customer Agreement may restrict this further, and those restrictions control.
- Feedback. If you send GMI suggestions or feedback, GMI may use them without any obligation to you.
12. Acceptable Use
You may use the Platform only for lawful internship program purposes. You may not:
- Post false or misleading information, listings, or credentials, or impersonate any person or organization.
- Harass, bully, threaten, or discriminate against anyone, or post sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate content.
- Contact Students for any purpose other than the Account Owner's internship program.
- Collect, scrape, or harvest data or contact information from the Platform.
- Access, or try to access, any Instance, account, or data you are not authorized to use.
- Upload malware, probe or test the Platform's security, or get around its access controls.
- Send spam, advertising, or unrelated commercial offers.
- Overload the Platform or access it through automated means, except through interfaces GMI provides for that purpose.
- Violate any law or anyone else's rights.
GMI may remove Content or suspend accounts that violate this section, as described in Section 17.
13. Third-Party Services and Single Sign-On
Some Platform features rely on third-party services, which have their own terms.
- You may be able to sign in through, or connect the Platform to, services such as Clever. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
- GMI is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or security of third-party services.
- Data GMI receives from a third-party service is treated as Content, and as Student Data where it relates to a Student, under these Terms.
- The Account Owner is responsible for setting up its integrations and for having the authority to share data through them.
- Links to outside websites are provided for convenience and are not endorsements.
14. Communications
GMI communicates with Users by email today, and will send text messages only to Users who opt in once that feature is available.
Email. By using the Platform, you agree that GMI and your Account Owner may send you emails about your account, applications, program activity, security, and changes to these Terms. You cannot opt out of essential service emails while your account is active, but you can opt out of optional ones. Electronic notices satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.
Text messages (when offered). If GMI begins offering text messages, these terms apply:
- GMI will send texts only to Users who opt in. Agreeing to receive texts is not required to use the Platform.
- Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help.
- For Students under 18, the Account Owner is responsible for obtaining parental consent that covers text messages.
- Mobile carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
15. Artificial Intelligence Features
GMI does not offer AI features today. If GMI adds AI-powered features, such as internship matching or resume assistance, this section applies to them.
- AI-generated output may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review it before relying on it.
- AI output will not be the sole basis for any decision about a Student's eligibility, selection, or placement. Those decisions are made by people.
- GMI will not allow Student Data to be used to train AI models offered by third parties, and any AI provider GMI uses will be contractually prohibited from doing so.
16. Fees and Payment
The Platform is free for Students and Internship Providers. Account Owners pay the fees set out in their Customer Agreement.
- Payment terms. Unless the Customer Agreement says otherwise, invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date.
- Late payment. GMI may charge interest on overdue amounts at the lower of 1% per month or the highest rate allowed by law. For public entities, the payment-timing laws that apply to them, such as Florida's Local Government Prompt Payment Act, control instead.
- Taxes. Account Owners are responsible for applicable taxes, unless they provide a valid tax-exemption certificate.
- Refunds. Fees are non-refundable unless the Customer Agreement or the law provides otherwise.
- Price changes. GMI will give at least 30 days' notice of any price change, which will take effect at the start of the next renewal term.
- Term and renewal. The subscription term and any renewal are set in the Customer Agreement.
17. Term, Suspension, and Termination
When an Account Owner's service ends, it has 90 days to request an export of its data, and GMI deletes that data when the Account Owner asks by email.
Users. These Terms apply for as long as you use the Platform. You may stop at any time and may ask your Account Owner, or GMI at support@getmyinterns.org, to close your account.
Suspension of Users. GMI may suspend or end a User's access if the User violates these Terms or poses a risk to the safety of others or the security of the Platform. GMI will give notice where practical. Account Owners may also suspend Users in their Instance.
Account Owners.
- Either party may terminate for a material breach that is not cured within 30 days after written notice.
- GMI may suspend an Instance for non-payment after at least 15 days' written notice, or immediately if needed to address a security threat.
- If an Account Owner is a public entity and its governing body does not appropriate funds for the Platform, it may terminate at the end of its current fiscal period by giving GMI written notice.
- Other termination rights are set in the Customer Agreement.
Your data after termination.
- For 90 days after termination, the Account Owner may request a full export of its Instance's data, and GMI will provide it within a reasonable time in a commonly used format, such as CSV.
- After termination, the Account Owner may request deletion of its Instance's data by email to support@getmyinterns.org. GMI will delete that data, including all Student Data, from its active systems within 30 days of the request. Until then, GMI continues to protect the data under these Terms.
- Backups are overwritten on GMI's normal rotation schedule and remain protected under these Terms until then.
- GMI will provide written confirmation of deletion on request.
- These deadlines do not apply to data the law requires GMI to keep, or to de-identified data described in Section 11.
Survival. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including Sections 10, 11, and 17 through 23, will continue.
18. Disclaimers
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, GMI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. GMI DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
GMI IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF ANY USER, ACCOUNT OWNER, OR INTERNSHIP PROVIDER, FOR ANY INTERNSHIP, OR FOR ANY INTERACTION THAT HAPPENS OFF THE PLATFORM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so some of these may not apply to you.
19. Limitation of Liability
GMI's total liability is capped at 12 months of fees for Account Owners and $100 for everyone else.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW:
- GMI WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY.
- GMI'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE PLATFORM OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED (A) FOR AN ACCOUNT OWNER, THE FEES IT PAID OR OWED TO GMI IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FOR ANY OTHER USER, $100.
These limits do not apply to liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, to an Account Owner's payment obligations, or to any liability that cannot be limited by law. A Customer Agreement may set different limits, such as a separate limit for data security incidents.
Nothing in these Terms waives the sovereign immunity of any public entity Account Owner, or its protections under Section 768.28, Florida Statutes.
20. Indemnification
Internship Providers and Account Owners agree to defend and indemnify GMI against claims arising from their use of the Platform. Students are not required to indemnify GMI.
- Who indemnifies. Each Internship Provider and Account Owner will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GMI and its members, officers, and employees from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including attorneys' fees) arising from (a) its Content, (b) its violation of these Terms or the law, (c) internships it offers, runs, or oversees, or (d) its interactions with other Users.
- Public entities. For an Account Owner that is a public entity, this obligation applies only to the extent the law allows, and nothing here waives its sovereign immunity or the limits in Section 768.28, Florida Statutes.
- Process. GMI will give prompt notice of any claim, let the indemnifying party control the defense, and reasonably cooperate. The indemnifying party may not settle a claim in a way that admits fault by GMI without GMI's written consent.
21. Disputes and Governing Law
Disputes go to good-faith negotiation for 30 days, then to the courts in Miami-Dade County, Florida, under Florida law.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and by applicable federal law.
- Informal resolution first. Before filing a lawsuit, the party raising a dispute must send written notice describing it, to GMI at support@getmyinterns.org or to you at the email address on your account. The parties will then try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days.
- Courts. If the dispute is not resolved, it must be brought in the state courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, or the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Each party consents to the jurisdiction of those courts.
- Exceptions. Either party may go directly to court to seek an injunction to stop misuse of data or intellectual property, and either party may bring an eligible claim in small claims court.
- Customer Agreements. A Customer Agreement may set a different governing law or venue, and if so, that agreement controls for that Account Owner.
22. Changes to These Terms
GMI will give at least 30 days' notice before a material change to these Terms takes effect.
- Notice of material changes will be sent by email to Account Owners and Account Administrators and posted on the Platform.
- Non-material changes, such as clarifications or corrections, take effect when posted. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version.
- If you keep using the Platform after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Platform. An Account Owner that does not agree may terminate before the change takes effect.
- Changes to these Terms never modify a signed Customer Agreement without that Account Owner's written agreement.
23. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any Customer Agreement are the entire agreement about the Platform.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. GMI may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of its business, with notice to Account Owners.
- Public records. Account Owners that are Florida public agencies are subject to Florida's public records law (Chapter 119, Florida Statutes). Where Section 119.0701, Florida Statutes, applies, GMI will meet the public records obligations set out in the Customer Agreement.
- Force majeure. Neither party is responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, power or internet outages, or acts of government. This does not excuse payment obligations.
- Independent parties. GMI and each User or Account Owner are independent parties. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship.
- Severability and waiver. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure to enforce any part is not a waiver.
- Notices. GMI sends notices to the email address on your account. Notices to GMI go to support@getmyinterns.org, and formal legal notices should also be mailed to the address in Section 24.
- Interpretation. Headings are for convenience only, and "including" means "including without limitation."
